FAQ

HOW CAN I ADOPT A BETTA?

I ask that you fill out the adoption application in the "Rescue a Betta" tab. More information is posted there. This is so that I can ensure that my fish are going to good homes. 

HOW MUCH IS IT TO ADOPT?

I only ask for an optional donation. If you are not within two hours' driving distance from the zip code 06762, or are not willing or able to drive to that radius, I can ship you a rescue through either USPS priority ($16) or UPS overnight ($50), provided that the weather is not too cold or too hot for shipment. You can pay me directly to my Go Fund Me account or reach out to me personally; I accept venmo. 

WHAT IS YOUR DEAD ON ARRIVAL POLICY?

1. For my rescues and any other fish, snail, shrimp, cultures, or  plants, I package them all in pristine shipping conditions. This includes a long lasting heat pack/cold pack, double bagging, insulation, and padding. I can only guarantee live arrivals with UPS overnight shipping or with USPS priority mail if the package has not been delayed. For animals, is highly recommended to choose UPS overnight shipping as this will decrease stress and ensure that they travel to their new home safely. For plants and cultures, USPS priority mail is recommended to ensure live arrival. 

2. Please take a video of the box being opened upon receiving your package. If any fish are dead or severely sick, please contact me within a 3 hour window of your delivery and I may give you a full or partial refund, depending on the situation. 

3. If an animal has not showed signs of severe illness after the package has been opened, its care is your responsibility. It is also your responsibility to track an arriving package and make sure that it is brought inside right after delivery. 

4. Many factors go into how well a plant will do in your aquarium, including lighting, humidity, pH, water flow, nitrate levels, other nutrient levels, etc. If a plant dies or does poorly after arrival, it is suggested to research the conditions that the individual plant sold requires and compare those conditions to the conditions in your aquarium.

HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE RESCUE?

The best way to contribute to the rescue is to either donate to my GoFundMe account (which I will use to buy supplies as needed), order supplies from my Amazon Wishlist so that you know exactly what your contribution will be used for, or to just be an active follower on my social media! The more likes, shares, comments, or follows I get on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok, the more the social media platform will deem my posts as "important" and the more people will see my posts. These posts often spread the word about proper fish care or ask for homes for adopted fish, so a simple internet interaction makes a world of a difference. 

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR MY ORDER TO GET HERE?

As I am a full-time college student in addition to treating bettas, I cannot commit to shipping orders out every single day. Therefore, all orders will be shipped once a week, every Monday or Tuesday. This will decrease chances that live orders such as plants, cultures, and fish do not get stuck at the post office over the weekend. After the order is shipped, you will receive a tracking number to track your package.
